News & Opportunities Arts volunteering Volunteer at Garvald Edinburgh Garvald Edinburgh offers creative opportunities to around 230 people with disabilities, both in on site and in community settings. Our high-quality workshops provide diverse craft, artistic and educational activities including: pottery, glassworking, joinery, puppetry, tool refurbishment, furniture restoration, textiles, painting and more. Our bakery, confectionery and canteen workshops offer the opportunity to gain experience in food production. We run a wide and changing programme of opportunities across the week, including bio-dance, yoga, swimming, walking groups, aerobics, eurythmy and horse riding. Our community events throughout the year regularly bring together people from across Garvald and the wider community. How to get involved? We would really like to hear from you if you are interested in becoming a volunteer. Some experience of learning disabilities and/or craft or catering skills would be helpful but is not essential. You could make a real difference by giving more time to an individual or extending the range of contacts people have. At the same time there is an opportunity to refresh and develop your own skills and broaden your experience. Please note that we are looking for volunteers aged 16+ who are able to make a regular commitment for an extended period as this provides consistency and continuity for service-users – we are unable to offer short volunteer placements (i.e. less than a six month commitment) To learn more, visit Garvald Edinburgh's website or get in touch via phone at 0131 346 2492.
