Based in Eskdalemuir in Scotland, Upper Eskdale Development Group is a charity established for the benefit of the residents of their small community, and includes a community cafe, shop, garden, art room and exhibition space. 

Building on a previous project in which participants photographed the residents and the places of the valley, Upper Eskdale Development Group created two new projects, recording the songs and the stories of the valley. 

Working with Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival, they brought local musicians together with the participants that wrote the lyrics for rehearsals and recording. 

Lara Porter said: “All these things come about by our communities' interests, and they offer learning experiences and jobs for local people.”
