The Mickel Fund is a Scottish Charitable Trust, founded by Douglas W Mickel in the 1970s, with the sole purpose of improving the lives of others through charitable donations in and around Scotland, and where possible on a global scale.

The fund has the following priorities:

  • The advancement of education
  • The prevention or relief of poverty
  • The advancement of health and the saving of lives
  • The advancement of the arts, heritage, culture & science
  • The advancement of public participation in sports

The Mickel Fund donates between £100,000 and £120,000 annually. Trustees meet twice a year in Spring and Autumn to consider applications received for funding, and funds are distributed in two tranches of £50,000 - £60,000 each.

They prefer to support organisations where our contributions ‘make a difference’ Major Donations will be considered for one large-scale local project at a time, for example the donation of £5,000 - £10,000 on a one-off basis.
