Current work Local projects Slough Creative Lives On Air partnered with BBC Radio Berkshire and Slough Cultural Revival Creative Lives was delighted to be in a partnership with BBC Radio Berkshire and the dynamic Slough Cultural Revival project, which is shining a light on creative activity in Slough (to find out what's on, from VR to dance workshops visit The Slough Explorer). Our freelance producer Abhi Arumbakkam led the project, which celebrated the value of everyday creativity and showed how taking part in creative activity can boost wellbeing, tackle isolation, and strengthen community connections. Celebrating creativity in Slough During the second half of 2025, we worked closely with local cultural partners, community organisations, and creative practitioners to map what’s happening in the town and explore how creativity is already enriching people’s lives. Together with BBC Radio Berkshire, we produced a series of radio and digital features that showcased the voices, stories, and talents of Slough’s diverse communities. These audio pieces were broadcast across the BBC and online, highlighting creative groups in Slough and their amazing stories. You can listen to some of Abhi's inspirational interviews with creative groups in Slough here. Opportunities to get involved The project wasn't just about broadcasting, it was also about participation. We ran community events and activities that brought people together and provided opportunities to record live radio content. Local groups and individuals also had the chance to develop audio skills, through signposting and connections with BBC Radio Berkshire, ensuring a legacy of knowledge and confidence in sharing stories through sound. Building connections At the heart of this project was collaboration. We built local creative contacts and partnerships, gathered stories, and collected case studies that demonstrate the positive impact of creativity on everyday life. Sharing the impact We'll soon be sharing a report that brings together the activities, voices, and outcomes from across Slough, showing how creative participation really does help communities thrive.
