RCT Creative Writers’ Group is an entirely voluntary writing group, which was established 12 years ago, and is based in Rhondda Cynon Taff, South Wales. There are currently 20 members, and the group has been operating in a hybrid manner since the pandemic, alternating between online meetings and in-person gatherings in Pontypridd. They offer a safe, supportive and encouraging environment to all to develop their written creativity, be it poetry, story, or memoir.

The group publishes anthologies of their work, the last being Lockdown Lyrics in 2021, with all members represented. They also work to improve their writing through workshops, mutual support and involvement with other groups. The group has extensive partnerships with a range of events, and their work has featured on BBC Radio Wales and in literary exhibitions. By participating in such a diverse range of projects the group has worked in many new fields and also continued with the innovation it started during lockdown.

“Our members have all benefited from the opportunities we have had, which have allowed us to try writing in diverse forms. Joining in with a welcoming, friendly, supportive group and the joy of writing has helped with the group members' mental health.” Jess Morgan, RCT Creative Writers’ Group
