Glad RagsWe catch up with GladRags Thrift in Glasgow to find out about their latest campaign - 'GLAD TO BE SOMETHING NEW'. Read on for more information and to see how you can get involved.

What is GladRags Thrift?

We are a not-for-profit co-operative shop based in the Southside of Glasgow, selling pre-owned ladies and gents clothing and accessories. We pride ourselves on being current, embracing diverse cultural ideas and trends. Profits raised by the shop support the projects of our sister company The Glad Cafe and our charity The Glad Foundation, which currently caters for 40 local children, providing creative workshops and music lessons.

Funds raised have allowed the Foundation to take on a building in the local area from which to run its programme. All our stock is donated by the generous general public who support what we do.

Our main social aims include –

  • Encouraging Local people to get involved in their community
  • Providing a high standard of volunteering opportunities and training
  • Coordinating re-using and recycling projects/ workshops and events
  • Diverting usable material from land fill
  • Creating a local community hub where people feel they can get involved and share collective skills and knowledge

What are you currently working on?

We are excited to announce the launch of our new campaign 'GLAD TO BE SOMETHING NEW'. This will feature a wide variety of events and workshops celebrating upcycling, reuse and repair. We are really keen to connect with independent makers and creative groups that would like to be part of this campaign - particularly those interested in running workshops at the GladRags Thrift shop and/or creating engaging window displays.
