Lighthouse Yarns is a luxury high-end wool shop, housed in the old part of The Bank House, right in the heart of Whitehead. A treasure trove for anyone who loves yarn, knitted goods, crafting, sewing and haberdashery.
At Lighthouse Yarns you will find something special and unique, for any project you have in mind. You will discover a wide range of brands, from hand-dyed locally spun skeins, to well trusted traditional brands.
Lighthouse Yarns also stocks a lovely selection of gifts, patterns, accessories and kids crafts.
The social power of crafting and knitting, and it's ability to bring people together, is something that owner, and keen crafter Louise Williamson holds at the heart of her business.
With twice weekly Craft-a-long mornings, hosted (free of charge!) in store, you are most welcome to join the group for a cup of tea and a biscuit, some crafty chat, taking a wee moment for you to relax and make something with your hands while you meet some like-minded people... all ages, walks of life and abilities are more than welcome!
The staff at Lighthouse Yarns are all experienced crafters, so are able to offer help and support, and advice when it comes to stitches, patterns and choosing the right wool and needles for your projects.
Lighthouse Yarns runs many classes and events, and is an integral part of the social community in Whitehead - they led the Yarn-Bomb extravaganza that was the 'Woollen Woods' back in the Spring, hosts of the Yarnfolks Festival of Wool and are often found crocheting and knitting items for charity events. Call in to the store, and find out what they're working on now!
