Take part in creating cosy blankets for hospitals and care homes

Since 2017, Inspire's annual knitting and crocheting challenge has led to hundreds of people giving their time, skills, wool, and creativity to charitable causes. Their 2024 challenge, Care Squares, is open for donations now, and all Care Squares received by 1 August 2024 will be displayed in a celebratory exhibition at Mansfield Central Library Gallery.

This year, crafters are warmly invited to make and donate blankets which will be donated for use in hospitals and care settings. Individual 15cm/ 6 inch squares are also accepted, and will be assembled into completed blankets during communal Blanket-a-thon events across Inspire's Nottinghamshire libraries.

The Care Squares blanket is a striking design by Nottinghamshire knitwear designer Jane Withers, and the pattern includes instructions for both knit and crochet squares.
