Healy Arts muralSet up in 2021, Glasgow-based Healy Arts helps and encourages people to engage in heritage crafts, including glass blowing. Through education events, they have built up connections with local community councils and individuals, but have also made connections internationally in Venice, France, Spain, and Andorra.

Their largest project to date is the ‘Longest Mural in Glasgow’, which measured more than 1000 metres. Working alongside professional artists, community volunteers painted large boards surrounding the River Clyde with images that reflected the history and heritage of the river.

“Volunteers could see what a positive difference they were making to the area and changing a derelict site into a sight of wonder that people came to visit to view the mural,” say Siobhan Healy. “We not only used traditional painting techniques, and increased people's skills in those areas, but we also included modern technology such as augmented reality (AR) so that people could use their mobile phones to animate aspects of the mural.”
