Reading Kindness RocksReading Kindness Rocks is a volunteer-run creative group that enjoys painting rocks to 'hide' around Reading and beyond.

Spreading joy

They set up the group to spread joy and brighten people's days as they happen upon their small creations across the town.

The group meets in the restaurant of IKEA'S Reading branch every Monday evening from 5-7pm, and has proved so popular that participants are asked to pre-book a slot online to ensure there is space and materials for everyone across the two one-hour sessions.

They also have a very active Facebook group, where people share rocks they have found and painted.

Finding a new home

When their previous meeting place was no longer available, the group approached IKEA to see if they could help. The store was happy for Reading Kindness Rocks to hold their weekly get-togethers in the restaurant, and kindly set aside space for the two hours they needed it each Monday (except on public holidays).

The arrangement has proven to be mutually beneficial, as the painters often eat in the restaurant before or after a session and, if they have the IKEA app, they can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee for free as well.
