Tullyvin Musical Society

Tullyvin Musical Society brings together like-minded people with a genuine passion for musical theatre and a shared ambition to bring a little piece of Broadway to a small rural area in Southern Ulster.

This fully inclusive group, welcoming around 40 active members of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, is based in Tullyvin Community Centre where it all happens: fundraisers, meetings, auditions, rehearsals and shows. Society members also collaborated with the local secondary school to run musical workshops. Working together as part of a ‘family’, and performing on stage has boosted everyone's confidence and sense of escapism. Friendships, laughter, support, pride and new skills (eg. communication and artistic skills for advertising and set design) are the main outcomes of this society.

The group participated and supported in many local events, fundraisers and activities. Achievements to date include two nominations for the Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) award in 2015 and 2020, as well as a national Pride of Place award in 2019. In 2019, some of the members joined a volunteer group in the northern region to perform at the opening ceremony of the AIMS awards to an audience of 1,300 people.
