This New GroundThis New Ground is an initiative that elevates the artistic talents of learning disabled people in Hammersmith and Fulham, and began in 2017 as a choir for learning disabled people. This New Ground Collective is made up of 16 learning disabled people and artists, who have been working towards The Big Exchange project, a year long participatory project which started in May 2018. The Big Exchange Project took place at Bishop Creighton House, Lyric Hammersmith and Bush Theatre. It showcased a new piece of participant-led theatre made in collaboration with Spare Tyre Theatre exploring themes including hiding, relationships and feelings; two short films exploring identity, self-perception and storytelling; a mini podcast series and an original group music composition based on stories that connected participants to their home.
