National Video Game Orchestra of Wales< Back to Shortlist

Founded by two postgraduate students from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and born from a mutual love of video games and music, the National Video Game Orchestra of Wales is 65-strong and comprised of students who volunteer their time. The first performance, originally conceived as a one-time gig, was a near sell-out, so the decision was made to continue the orchestra. The project has introduced people to a new repertoire in the form of video game music, which the founders would like to see recognised on the same platform as TV or film music.
