Buckingham Art for All< Back to Shortlist

Buckingham Art for All (BAFA) has been encouraging and supporting lovers of art for ten years now. A small voluntary committee oversees their activity with help from around 90 members in the local area. BAFA host two big exhibitions each year, in May and November, with over 140 pieces in the most recent show. Working with the Buckingham Medical School, they created work incorporating the theme of diabetes. A competition among local schools encourages younger people in the area to take part and locals also vote for their favourite piece in a number of categories.

BAFA have welcomed local musicians to play at the exhibition to add to the atmosphere and to celebrate the creativity of others in the area. The group have also exchanged work with artists in Buckingham’s French twin town of Mauvaux for their Spring exhibition. BAFA have also helped to establish an ‘art trail’ in the town showcasing members’ work in various venues and have established a number of groups, including a printmakers network, who meet to create work together.
