Policy & Research Place Reports Creative Lives on Air in London In spring 2025, Creative Lives worked in partnership with BBC Radio London to spotlight grassroots creativity in local communities, specifically in Edmonton, Enfield. Arman Nouri worked with us for three months, creating content for BBC Radio London via our innovative partnership ‘Creative Lives On Air’. During Creativity and Wellbeing Week in May 2025, we encouraged creative participation through interviews, live broadcasts, and community-led activity. The project amplified the voices of local residents and creatives, exploring how creativity supports wellbeing, strengthens neighbourhoods, and builds resilience. BBC Radio London Broadcasts A series of interviews were produced and aired on BBC Radio London, which has approximately 420,000 listeners per week. Cellina Momodu Doswell, a local resident and community activist, explained how the charity REACT is supporting people in Edmonton through creative activities and community events. Sophie Ambelas, a local artist who delivers sessions in the community, talked about pottery, clay, her journey as an artist, and supporting others to gain confidence through making. Yuting Cheng and Richard Fisher (Fisher Cheng) talked about their architectural practice in Edmonton, which led to the ‘Living Room Library’. Christina Kalinowski talked about her community work with families and children in Edmonton. Tahira Tofa talked about her art practice and growing up in Edmonton. Ben Nathan spoke about his CIC Pinhole London, exploring photography, wellbeing, and collaborations with the NHS. These broadcasts highlighted the power of creativity to impact wellbeing, showcasing how local people use creativity to take care of themselves, their communities, and their neighbourhoods. Creative Lives would like to thank Kim Davies and Sara David from BBC Radio London for their support during this project. Community Event Alongside the broadcasts, Creative Lives supported a community-led event in Edmonton, in partnership with The Conservation Volunteers (TCV), REACT, and Fore Street For All. Held in TCV’s Community Garden, activities included gardening, and a colour portraiture workshop. The event aimed to strengthen community connections in Edmonton, provide a space for residents to engage in creativity and wellbeing activities, and highlight and support Fore Street For All, a coalition driving community-led cultural programming.
