In a rich collaboration with the Ballyogan community in Dun Laoghaire and Rathdown, CoisCéim will bring together the skills and experience of local people with those of professional dancers and creative artists to develop a bold, imaginative project that cross-pollinates art forms and media. ON THURSDAY 04 APRIL | EARLY YEARS

As the cold weather returned in April, Cois Céim began dancing with children at Early Years Family Resource Centre. There were some fabulous dancing dolphins and energetic Jellyfish. They loved Matthew – especially when he spun on his head!

PHILIPPA DONNELLAN | BROADREACH DIRECTOR

Philippa has a wealth of experience as a choreographer, director, teacher and performer and has Directed CoisCéim’s BROADREACH initiative since 2006.  For more information please see her extended biography here: coisceim.com/about-us/

MATTHEW WILLIAMSON | PROJECT LEADER

Matthew is a dancer and choreographer from Dublin with over 14 years’ experience in performance and competitive dance. He has worked with ANU and CoisCéim Dance Theatre on THESE ROOMS for ART:2016 in the Dublin Theatre Festival 2016 and with CoisCéim has toured extensively, from Sligo to the Sydney Opera House, in THE WOLF AND PETER by David Bolger. Also most recently worked on The Lost O Casey part of Dublin Theatre festival 2018. Matthew’s speciality is acrobatic, musical and energetic Hip-Hop (Breakdance) and has thought for many years all around Ireland. He has over ten championship titles under his belt and has showcased his skills in front of some of the biggest companies in the world; in 2014 he received a life time achievement award for outstanding contribution to Irish Hip-Hop dance. He is also a member of dance group Raw Edge Crew who have performed and competed as Irish representatives in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, the UK and Germany. Raw Edge featured on Sky One’s GOT TO DANCE where they reached the live semi finals.

OLWYN LYONS | DANCE TEACHER

Olwyn is a choreographer, dance artist and community dance facilitator, who specialises in Contemporary and Hip Hop Dance. She is a certified Dance for Parksinson’s teacher (Dance for PD® USA, English National Ballet, U.K.) and is a qualified Zumba instructor. Recently Olwyn was been awarded funding from South Dublin County’s Cruinniú na nÓg 2019 to direct a children’s show involving primary school children. (April – June 2019). Olwyn has previously danced in works choreographed by David Bolger (IRE), Catherine Young (IRE),  Hélène Cathala (FR),  Sibéal Davitt (IRE), Muirne Bloomer (IRE), Dr. Valerie Preston Dunlop (U.K), Luca Silvestrini (U.K.), Raimund Hoghe (Germany, Pina Bausch).

GAVIN KELLY AKA THE MAIN EVENT | DJ

Gavin is a music producer and DJ from North Dublin. His background is in hiphop dancing and he has been DJing in Dublin since he was 18, playing some of Dublin’s biggest and best nightclubs.  He is currently a resident DJ for the RnBClub and has won beat making competitions including The RedBull BCONE Perfect Beat Challenge 2018. He has worked with artists including Detroit’s own Maine Soul and Belfast’s up and coming rap star Leo Miyagee. His studio album titled 29:20 was released in 2018.
