The Bernard Sunley Foundation has four funding categories:

• Community - projects that make a positive contribution to their neighbourhood and create a sense of belonging 
• Education - learning experiences and life skills for children and young people 
• Health - projects that provide an excellent standard of care and support in their communities 
• Social Welfare - grants to assist the most vulnerable in society such

In 2024, a total of £756,000 was awarded across 71 grants. They award three levels of grants: £25,000 and above, up to £20,000 and £5,000 and under.
