Flourish

'Flourish' is a celebration of the groups inner strengths. It is a collaboration with local artist Jane Groves as well as local people from the Exit 15 Area who created the installation piece with the aim to develop a sense of identity of the growing group and also a sense of identity within the newly developed Samuel Beckett Civic Centre and the surrounding area. The installation piece is an evolving response to the the groups relationship with one another and the various community members who helped along the way.

Flourish is a platform for exploring certain creative practices and it opens a dialogue between the artists, the local environment and its community, the project is process led, and open ended.

Folding / Unfolding Landscapes

Doreen Kennedy

Folding / Unfolding Landscapes is a temporary outdoor art installation made of folded photographic flower prints. The images in the artwork show details of the local environment in Ballyogan, inspired by the work of the estate management’s gardening, with images of flowers and plants in the area.

Doreen works in the Ballyogan based graphic design studio MM Creative, and passing the estate’s planted areas daily, she began to document the flowers in February. During the following months, over 400 individual images were made, edited and assembled into the folded forms that make up the artwork. Each print is different and combined in order of colour and tone. Folding / Unfolding Landscapes reflects the vibrant environment of Ballyogan, creating a temporary landscape and reveals the artist’s connection to the area.

Doreen would like to thank Áine Crowley, Jane Groves and Ballyogan Creatives: Val Hickey, Fidéle O’Riordan and Val Long for their support throughout the project.
