News & Opportunities Arts volunteering Attenborough Arts Centre seeks gallery volunteers Attenborough Arts Centre at the University of Leicester is seeking volunteer Gallery Assistants. Time commitment The gallery is open Monday – Friday 12–5pm and volunteers typically do 1.5 hours at various points in the day, working on a rota basis. Rotas are compiled one month in advance and volunteers request which days/times they would like to come in. Volunteers are required to do a minimum of one shift per month to ensure their training and knowledge is kept up-to-date. What’s involved? Familiarising yourself with the layout of the centre and exhibition content to give a high standard of customer service. Engaging customers with the exhibition, talking to them about the artist, the work on show and the events the centre has connected to the current exhibition. Invigilating the exhibition, ensure all artwork is in place at the start and end of the day and that customers are mindful around any fragile or unglazed work. Follow the ‘Volunteer Agreement’. This role will suit you if you are: Creative and would like to meet and work with like-minded people. Looking to do something different in a venue that is fully inclusive and can teach you new skills, including increasing your knowledge of contemporary art and working in a gallery setting.
