'A Creative Century' celebrates the many different ways we can express ourselves creativity at every age and stage of life.

We photographed and talked to ten people, one from each decade of our lives - meet our 30-something . . .

Name: Rhona Smith
Age: 31
Enjoys: Playing with Drake Music Scotland’s Digital Orchestra

“Being part of the Digital Orchestra has given me some fantastic opportunities and is so fun. It’s also fulfilled a life-long ambition, because I always wanted to be part of an orchestra.

The programme I use is called Notion, which means I can control my orchestral instrument. The switch on one hand makes the score move forward on my laptop, the switch on my other hand moves it back, and I have an elbow switch so I can move between different parts.

We all compose together and put down ideas – and then the music just comes out of somewhere. When I first started, I couldn’t even read music but I have developed both as a performer and a composer.

Performing is amazing, although it’s also sometimes scary. But I enjoy the adrenaline of it, and the feedback you get from the audience is incredible.”
