Action Space volunteers in LondonArea: London

Established in the 1960s, ActionSpace is London’s leading artist development agency for artists with learning disabilities. It advocates for diversity in the contemporary visual arts sector by supporting artists with learning disabilities to develop their artistic practice, sell and exhibit work, amongst other creative projects. The organisation seeks to make professional careers in the arts a realistic option for learning disabled artists by nurturing their talent and ambition.

Volunteer role

Are you someone with a creative practice who is eager to support other artists to develop their practice?

In ActionSpace's supported studio sessions, learning disabled artists are supported by Artist Facilitators to develop their artistic practice and create new work. ActionSpace is looking for volunteers to assist its Artist Facilitators to support the artists in these studio sessions.

The organisation is currently recruiting for:

  • Studio volunteers at its three studios supporting studio sessions on a weekly basis
  • Event volunteers to support occasional events

Why get involved?

Volunteers will receive hands-on experience and guidance in ActionSpace's studio sessions of inclusive arts practice, mentored by artist facilitators. Out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursed for transport within London and lunch is reimbursed for a full volunteer day, with receipts. You will also receive updates on training and other opportunities to access both inside and outside ActionSpace.
