Imaginate is recruiting enthusiastic and committed volunteers to be the public face of the Edinburgh International Children’s Festival 2023 (27th May – 4th June).

They welcome volunteers from all walks of life, in particular people with disability, BPOC+, those from diverse ethnic communities and all those who feel they are not commonly represented in the arts sector.

The volunteers are the public face of the Festival; helping the school, family and delegate audiences at each venue, attending industry and guest events, and supporting the Festival team behind the scenes throughout the week.

In return for their time and commitment volunteers are able to see Festival performances, attend social events, and take part in a hugely exciting, creative and rewarding week.

Volunteers are looked after by the Volunteer Coordinator who ensures they benefit greatly from their experience. These are some of the benefits mentioned by previous volunteers:

  • Watch world leading theatre and dance for children and young people
  • Have an experience shaped to your specific needs to help maximise the opportunity for you
  • A chance to meet and socialise with other volunteers and artists from across the world.

If you are interested, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Joanne Lees at [email protected] with a short blurb about yourself and why you would like to volunteer.

Previous volunteers said:

  • “I really enjoyed my time in the festival, made connections with other volunteers and artists, and had very informative and useful conversations with some people from Team Imaginate, which will definitely help me take my creative work for children further.”
  • “The joy of being part of things like this opening up again after the past two years, plus the memory of the children’s responses and their excitement at being on school outings again! For me personally, the motivation to get involved in similar initiatives in future.”
  • “This was my first-time volunteering with Imaginate, and I had an amazing experience! All staff were really welcoming, friendly and enhanced the experience. I felt really supported and valued as a volunteer.”
