We are looking for a Freelance Producer to support the delivery of our current ‘Northern Souls - Going Down The Welly’ project funded by Historic England, Everyday Heritage Grants, aimed at Celebrating Working Class Histories. The role will also involve maintaining the Creative Lives On Air partnership with BBC Radio Tees developing content that promotes creative participation to improve wellbeing and reduce isolation in the North East.

About the role

Creative Lives is working in partnership with BBC Radio Tees and Easington Social Welfare Centre to collect a range of oral histories and stories to celebrate the heritage and people of Easting Social Welfare Centre. We require an experienced radio producer with community engagement skills and an interest in heritage and creativity. Ideally the candidate will have experience working with a wide range of stakeholders and delivering high quality audio and digital content.

Key tasks

  • Carry out ‘story gathering’ workshops at Easington Social Welfare Centre
  • Edit and produce high quality audio stories and digital content for broadcast, which can be shared across a range of platforms
  • Support the England Director to commission artists, historians and/or creative practitioners to deliver workshops/activity based on need
  • Record and document project delivery
  • Work with Creative Lives and BBC Radio Tees to ensure the smooth delivery of the project brief
  • Supporting the delivery of Creative Lives on air content (promoting creativity for wellbeing) for broadcast on BBC Radio Tees

Timeline and fee

This is a maternity cover position starting April 2023 for three months. We estimate this will require 24 days over the three months with a fee of £3,000 inc VAT.
