Area: Birmingham

Craftspace is now inviting applications from volunteers to join a small team of arts professionals in delivering a new exhibition, Dorcas Stories from the Front Room, in Birmingham.

Dorcas Stories from the Front Room is a pop-up temporary exhibition at the Mailbox in Birmingham celebrating 75 years of Windrush through the lens of Caribbean textile, craft and fashion. Curated by Dr Rose Sinclair it will tell the story of Dorcas Clubs and feature historic documents and fashion garments, domestic crafts, photographs by Vanley Burke, contemporary fashion, audio stories and films.

Working alongside Craftspace staff and artists, you could be assisting with exhibition installation, exhibition invigilation, helping with visitor surveys and assisting with capturing content for social media. As part of a creative team committed to creativity and its role in building positive community experiences and relationships, you will gain valuable experience within an established arts charity working towards inclusive programming where diverse cultures and stories are valued, elevated and widely shared.

The knowledge, skills and experience gained will contribute to your personal and professional development, and you will have the opportunity to interact with a diverse range of people.

The deadline for receipt of applications is Wednesday 23 August 2023.
