Amy has been working with Creative Lives since February 2021 on an SGSAH-funded internship. She is working on a project called “Culture during Covid: Examining the impact of the pandemic on the voluntary arts sector”.

This project looks at how voluntary arts groups have responded to Covid-19, the consequences of the virus for the group, and its impact on the future activity of the group.

Amy is a PhD student at the University of St Andrews, where she works in the French Department of the School of Modern Languages. Her research focuses on representations of women as artists in nineteenth-century French literature, with a particular interest in the redefinition of “artistic creation” based on creative communities, rather than on the Romantic understanding of the artist as isolated genius.

Amy enjoys creative writing, drawing, and has recently began to learn to play the keyboard (much to the dismay of her partner and her dogs).
